A story about honesty and authenticity

A story about honesty and authenticity

I met a girl on a dating site. Her name was Katya, and her profile looked perfect: great photos, interesting hobbies, perfect answers to questions. We started chatting, and the conversation went very easily  she was smart, sweet and, it seemed, a real find. After a while, we decided to meet. In real life, she turned out to be completely different from the person she seemed to be in correspondence. She was friendly, but many things did not match. For example, she wrote that she loved active recreation, but in reality she could not stand walking. She said that she loved to travel, but in reality she had never been abroad. When I carefully asked why she created such an "ideal" version of herself, she confessed: "I was afraid that if I showed who I really am, no one would want to communicate with me." This situation taught me a lot. First, being honest from the very beginning is the most important thing. After all, real communication and relationships can only be built when you remain yourself. Secondly, it allowed me to understand that no one is perfect, but each person is unique, and it is this uniqueness that makes us special. Katya and I decided to remain friends, and I am glad that at least in the end she was able to be herself. Now, when I communicate with someone new, I always pay attention not to how perfect a person looks, but to how sincere they are.
So my lesson: never be afraid to show yourself as you are. Real people will always appreciate authenticity
