The wallet trick

The wallet trick

I once went out for drinks with a buddy of mine, Steve. We had a good time, ordered a few rounds, and when the check came, I said, I got this. Steve shook his head. No, no, let me get it. We argued for a minute. Then he did something strange. He pulled out his wallet, took out a bill, and slid it across the table. Here, he said. Take it, but promise me you’ll do the same for someone else someday.
I laughed, thinking he was joking. But he wasn’t.
I’ve never forgotten that moment. It wasn’t about the money it was about the gesture.
Sometimes, it’s not what you give, but how you give it that matters most.
